About Homoeopathy

Introduction:-

Homoeopathy

is a dynamic, holistic, scientific and philosophical system of constitutional medicine & individualistic drug therapeutics, based on the law of similars, with the potentiality of cure in cases that are curable and relieves symptoms in incurable cases. Homeopathy ( also spelled homoeopathy; from the Greek: hómoios-“like” and p-páthos-“suffering”) is a system of alternative medicine created in 1796 by Samuel Hahnemann based on his doctrine of like cures like, whereby a substance that causes the symptoms of a disease in healthy people will cure similar symptoms in sick people.

Historical Context:-

Homeopaths claim that Hippocrates may have originated homeopathy around 400 BC, when he prescribed a small dose of mandrake root to treat mania, knowing it produces mania in much larger doses. In the 16th century, the pioneer of pharmacology Paracelsus declared that small doses of “what makes a man ill also cures him.” Samuel Hahnemann (1755–1843) gave homeopathy its name and expanded its principles in the late 18th century. At that time, mainstream medicine used methods like bloodletting and purging, and administered complex mixtures, such as Venice treacle, which was made from 64 substances including opium, myrrh, and viper’s flesh. These treatments often worsened symptoms and sometimes proved fatal. Hahnemann rejected these practices – which had been extolled for centuries – as irrational and inadvisable;instead, he advocated the use of single drugs at lower doses and promoted an immaterial, vitalistic view of how living organisms function, believing that diseases have spiritual, as well as physical causes. The history of homeopathy begins with the discoveries of its founder Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843), a German physician. Hahnemann first coined the word “homeopathy” (“homoios” in Greek means similar, “pathos” means suffering) to refer to the pharmacological principle, the law of similars, that is its basis. Actually, the law of similars was previously described by Hippocrates and Paracelsus and was utilized by many cultures, including the Mayans, Chinese, Greeks, Native American Indians, and Asian Indians , but it was Hahnemann who codified the law of similars into a systematic medical science. Hahnemann’s first comments about the general applicability of the law of similars were in 1789 when he translated a book by William Cullen, one of the leading physicians of the era. At one point in the book Cullen ascribed the usefulness of Peruvian bark (Cinchona) in treating malaria due to its bitter and astringent properties. Hahnemann wrote a bold footnote in his translation, disputing Cullen’s explanation. Hahnemann asserted that the efficacy of Peruvian bark must be for other factor, since he noted that there were other substances and mixtures of substances decidedly more bitter and more astringent than Peruvian bark that were not effective in treating malaria. He then described his own taking repeated doses of this herb until his body responded to its toxic dose with fever, chills, and other symptoms similar to malaria. Hahnemann concluded that the reason this herb was beneficial was because it caused symptoms similar to those of the disease it was treating. This account epitomizes Hahnemann. First, he was translating Cullen’s work, which indicates that he was one of the more respected translators of his day. By the time he was only 24, Hahnemann could read and write in at least seven languages. He ultimately translated over 20 major medical and scientific texts. This story reveals Hahnemann as both an avid experimenter and a respected chemist. He had authored a four volume set of books called The Pharmaceutical Lexicon, which was considered one of the standard reference texts for apothecaries/pharmacists of his day.

Cardinal Principles Of Homoeopathy:-

1) Law of Similars – is the guide to prescribe in curable as well as incurable cases.
2) Law of Simplex – Only one single, medicine must be used at a time and there is no scope of polypharmacy.
3) Law of Minimum- The dose should be minimum, to stimulate the human organism & to produce perceptible change & it varies in each patient.
4) Principle of Drug-proving – To know the therapeutic properties of a drug, drug is administered to good number of healthy individuals (experimentally) & the symptoms are          recorded & one gains the inner nature of the drugs & the same is clinically verified on sick.
5) Principle of Drug-dynamisation – The medicines are not prescribed on physiological dose, but potentised medicines are used to cure diseased individuals.
6) Principle of Chronic diseases – Chronic diseases are caused by predisposing factors (miasms), which debilitate the life force (vital force) of an individual.
7) Principle of Vital Force – Homoeopathy believes in the existence of a force, which animates the human organism & the harmonious functioning of the body is because of its          equilibrium.

How Homoeopathy Works:-

Fact 1 – Hippocrates ‘The Father of Medicine’ of Ancient Greece said there were two Laws of Healing: The Law of Opposites and the Law of Similars. Homeopathy treats the patient                 with medicines using the Law of Similars, orthodox medicine uses the Law of Opposites, e.g. antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, anticonvulsants, antihypertensives, anti-                           depressants, anti-psychotics.
Fact 2 – Homeopathic theories are based on fixed principles of the Laws of Nature which do not change — unlike medical theories which are constantly changing!
Fact 3 – Homeopathy is an evidence-based, empirical medicine.
Fact 4 – Homeopathy is both an art and a science.
Fact 5 – The Homeopathic provings of medicines are a more scientific method of testing than the orthodox model.
Fact 6 – Homeopathic medicine awakens and stimulates the body’s own curative powers. The potentized remedy acts as a catalyst to set healing into motion.
Fact 7 – Homeopathic medicines work by communicating a current/pattern/frequency of energy via the whole human body to jump start the body’s own inherent healing                                       mechanisms.
Fact 8– Homeopathy assists the body to heal itself, to overcome an illness which brings the patient to a higher level of health. Orthodox medicine suppresses the illness,                                      bringing the patient to a lower level of health.
Fact 9 – The homeopathic practitioner endeavours to search for and treat the cause of the disease in order to heal the effect.
Fact 10 – Outcomes of homeopathic treatment are measured by the long term curative effects of prescribing and complete eradication of the disease state.
Fact 11 – The homeopathic practitioner treats the whole person, believing all symptoms are interrelated and seeks to select a medicine which most closely covers them all.

Popularity Of Homoeopathy:

The popularity of homeopathy has grown in the past 30 years, its revival entirely through word of mouth and estimated to be growing at more than 20% a year the world over.
Hundreds of famous people throughout the past 200 years have enjoyed the benefits of homeopathic medicine.
The aristocratic patronage of homeopathy in the U.K. extended well into the 1940s and beyond can be easily demonstrated. In the Homeopathic Medical Directories there are lists of patrons of the dispensaries and hospitals. They read like an extract from Burke’s or Debrett’s.
The Royal Families of Europe use homeopathic medicine and Queen Elizabeth II of England never travels anywhere without her homeopathic vials of medicine.
Homeopathy is practised nowadays in countries all over the world. In India there are 100 homeopathic medical schools and around 250,000 homeopathic doctors.
In a recent Global TGI survey where people were asked whether they trust homeopathy the following percentages of people living in urban areas said YES: 62% in India, 58% Brazil, 53% Saudi Arabia, Chile 49%, United Arab Emirates 49%, France 40%, South Africa 35%, Russia 28%, Germany 27%, Argentina 25%, Hungary 25%, USA 18%, UK 15%
The media as a whole has been unwilling to air a defence of the efficacy of homeopathy and the validity of this 250 year old profession.

Homoeopathy Today:-

The World Health Organization estimates that homeopathy is used by 500 million people worldwide, making it the second most widely used medicine in the world.
In England, France, Germany and the Netherlands, homeopathy is included in the National Health Service.
In France, 18,000 physicians prescribe homeopathic remedies.
In England, 42% of British physicians refer patients to homeopaths.
The Royal family has used used homeopathy for three generations. There are currently five homeopathic hospitals, and the oldest, the Royal London Homeopathic Hospital, has been there for 100 years.
India has over 1 lakhs board certified homeopathic physicians, thousands of homeopathic hospitals and clinics and many homeopathic medical schools.
In Germany , 20% of Physicians prescribe homeopathic remedies.
Homeopathy is also practiced in Vienna, Scotland, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Russia, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Pakistan, Greece, Belgium.

Fertility and Foods That Increase Fertility

Fertility is the natural capability to produce offspring. As a measure, Fertility rate is the number of offspring born per mating pair, individual or population. Fertility differs from fecundity, which is defined as the potential for reproduction (influenced by gamete production, fertilization and carrying a pregnancy to term). A lack of fertility is while a lack of fecundity would be called sterility.

Evidence shows that increased male age is associated with a decline in semen volume, sperm motility, and sperm morphology. In studies that controlled for female age, comparisons between men under 30 and men over 50 found relative decreases in “Pregnancy rate” between 23% and 38%.

Sperm_count declines with age, with men aged 50–80 years producing sperm at an average rate of 75% compared with men aged 20–50 years. However, an even larger difference is seen in how many of the Seminiferous_tubules in the Testes contain mature sperm;

  • In males 20–39 years old, 90% of the seminiferous tubules contain mature sperm.
  • In males 40–69 years old, 50% of the seminiferous tubules contain mature sperm.
  • In males 80 years old and older, 10% of the seminiferous tubules contain mature sperm.

Decline in male fertility is influenced by many factors, including lifestyle, environment and psychological factors.

Research shows increased risks for health problems for children of older fathers. A large scale Israeli study found that the children of men 40 or older were 5.75 times more likely than children of men under 30 to have an Autism_spectrum_disorder, controlling for year of birth, socioeconomic status, and maternal age.Increased paternal age has also been correlated to schizophrenia in numerous studies.

Australian researchers have found evidence to suggest overweight obesity may cause subtle damage to sperm and prevent a healthy pregnancy. They say fertilization was 40% less likely to succeed when the father was overweight.

The American Fertility Society recommends an age limit for sperm donors of 50 years or less, and many fertility clinics in the United Kingdom will not accept donations from men over 40 or 45 years of age. In part because of this fact, more women are now using a take-home baby rate calculator to estimate their chances of success following invitro fertilization
Below is a list of ten top foods shown to help fertility.

  1. Quinoa

Rich in many minerals and vitamins as well fatty acids and fibre – a great alternative to starchy grains such as couscous and bulgar wheat. The Mediterranean diet is widely recommended for optimal fertility being rich in vegetable proteins, and quinoa makes the perfect addition as it goes without saying protein requirements are raised when trying to conceive and during pregnancy.

  1. Watercress

Watercress is a member of the cruciferous vegetable family and is rich in many nutrients including vitamin C, vitamin K, calcium, beta-carotene, iron and iodine — which is often lacking in the Western diets of today. Watercress is well known to be a superfood, rich in age defying antioxidants that may help to prevent or slow the oxidative stress induced by free radical damage.

  1. Pomegranates

Pomegranates are rich in many nutrients including vitamin C, vitamin K, folic acid and several other Screen Shot 2015-06-04 at 11.11.32vitamins and minerals. In ancient Persia pomegranates were seen as a symbol of fertility and this still exists today in some countries.

  1. Asparagus

Asparagus is high in the potent antioxidant vitamin C and folate (folic acid) amongst other health giving nutrients and a valuable addition to your diet. The importance of folate is well documented in research for both male and female fertility.

TOMATOES

tomatos

Tomatoes are one of the best food sources of the antioxidant lycopene. There have been several studies undertaken on lycopene and male fertility and it has been found to significantly improve motility (the sperms ability to swim), activity and structure of sperm.  Lycopene is more available in cooked or processed tomatoes, so use tomato puree for a real hit and add olive oil to aid absorption of this fat-soluble antioxidant.

WALNUTS

Walnuts are rich in omega 3 fatty acids and according to a study by the Society for the Study of Reproduction eating 2.5 oz or around 75g of walnuts (about a handful) daily is linked with increased sperm vitality, motility and morphology (the sperms size and shape).

They’re a great way to add flavour and crunch to salads or as a nutritious mid afternoon snack to help manage blood sugar levels.

PUMPKIN SEEDS

Pumpkin seeds are high in zinc which plays an important role in sperm development and testosterone production.
They are also rich in several other essential minerals and vitamins. Choose raw, organic pumpkin seeds for optimal nutritional value and sprinkle into cereals, salads and smoothies.

LENTILS

Lentils are one of the richest food sources of folate (natural folic acid) which is just as important for male fertility as it is for female fertility.

It has been found that men who have a lower intake of folate from their diet have higher rates of chromosomal abnormalities in their sperm. Lentils are also a great vegetarian source of protein and fibre. Try Asian spiced lentils with grilled cod … a delicious and nutritious combination.

BLUEBERRIES

blueberries-in-

Blueberries are wonderful source of powerful, anti-inflammatory antioxidants including quercetin and resveratrol.
Studies show that quercetin can help in maintaining healthy sperm parameters including motility and quality and resveratrol has been found to improve sperm count and motility.

WATER

One of the simplest ways of improving sperm count and quality is to drink enough water. Semen is water based and so drinking more water can help improve sperm production along side increasing liquid consumption can help increase the ejaculate and improve sperm production.

Ensure it is more water that you are consuming, caffeine is a diuretic and soft drinks may be linked with lowering sperm counts.

POMEGRANATES

Pomegranate has long been considered a superfood due to its high antioxidant content which can improve blood circulation, reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and lower inflammation.

Research shows that pomegranate causes surges in testosterone, improves sperm quality and increases sex drive and mood in both sexes.

Drink a glass of good quality, 100 per cent pomegranate juice daily.

DARK CHOCOLATE

Dark chocolate is a rich source of the amino acid L-arginine which studies show can increase the volume of ejaculate and improve sperm count and motility.

The darker the chocolate, the better – try the delicious bittersweet 85 per cent dark chocolate. A little goes a long way.

And what to avoid!!!

CAFFEINE

Although studies seem to show that caffeine does not adversely affect sperm count, the ability to swim or the shape of the sperm, an American study found that higher caffeine consumption appears to reduce the chances of a clinical pregnancy during IVF.
So (both partners) try and keep to one (decent) cup of coffee daily.

DIET DRINKS

Research shows that aspartame (sweetener widely used in diet drinks) is linked with lower sperm count and can contribute to sperm DNA damage.

Jaundice: cause,symptoms,prevention & treatment

Jaundice is a condition wherein there occur mucous membranes and there is a yellow discoloration of skin. This mostly happens due to the increase in the bile pigments, known as bilirubin in the blood. It is one of the most common liver disorders affecting almost all the people at some point of time in their life.

Causes of jaundice:jaundice Homeopathy

Pancreatic cancer, acute hepatitis, blockage in the pile ducts, hemolytic anemia, alcoholic live disease are some of the factors that cause jaundice. If you have also been diagnosed with jaundice then there is no need to panic as there are several home remedies that help to cure jaundice.

  • Bilirubin is produced from the breakdown of haemoglobin in the reticuloendothelial system. 95% of the circulating bilirubin is unconjugated and bound to albumin.
  • The bilirubin-albumin complex is broken down by hepatocytes leaving free albumin circulating. The bilirubin is excreted in bile but only when made water soluble by conjugation with glucuronic acid in the liver.
  • Bile is stored and concentrated in the gallbladder and then excreted into the duodenum under the influence of cholecystokinin. Bilirubin in the gut is converted with the help of bacteria to urobilinogen.
  • Excretion is then either as urobilinogen from the kidney (only about 1%) or as urobilin (the vast majority) in the stool (having been broken down from urobilinogen by bacteria in the large bowel).

Jaundice Symptoms

Jaundice is a sign of an underlying disease process. . Common signs and symptoms seen in individuals with jaundice include:

  • Yellow discoloration of the skin, mucous membranes, and the whites of the eyes,
  • Light-colour stools,
  • Dark-colour urine, and
  • Itching of the skin.

Pre-hepatic (before bile is made in the liver)-Jaundice in these cases is caused by rapid increase in the breakdown and destruction of the red blood cells (haemolysis), overwhelming the liver’s ability to adequately remove the increased levels of bilirubin from the blood.

Examples of conditions with increased breakdown of red blood cells include:

  • Malaria,
  • Sickle cell crisis,
  • Spherocytosis,
  • Thalassemia,
  • Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (G6PD),
  • Drugs or other toxins, and
  • Autoimmune disorders.

Hepatic (the problem arises within the liver)-Jaundice in these cases is caused by the liver’s inability to properly metabolize and excrete bilirubin. Examples include:

  • Hepatitis (commonly viral or alcohol related),
  •      Cirrhosis,
  •      Drugs or other toxins,
  •      Crigler-Najjar syndrome,
  •      Gilbert’s syndrome, and
  •      Cancer

Post-hepatic (after bile has been made in the liver)-Jaundice in these cases, also termed obstructive jaundice, is caused by conditions which interrupt the normal drainage of conjugated bilirubin in the form of bile from the liver into the intestines.

Causes of obstructive jaundice include:

  • Gallstones in the bile ducts,
  • Cancer (pancreatic and gallbladder/bile duct carcinoma),
  • Strictures of the bile ducts,
  • Cholangitis,
  • Congenital malformations,
  • Pancreatitis,
  • Parasites,
  • Pregnancy, and
  • Newborn jaundice.

The following are some common causes of newborn jaundice:

  • Physiological jaundice-This form of jaundice is usually evident on the second or third day of life. It is the most common cause of newborn jaundice and is usually a transient and harmless condition
  • Maternal-foetal blood group incompatibility (Rh, ABO)-This form of jaundice occurs when there is incompatibility between the blood types of the mother and the fetus. This
leads to increased bilirubin levels from the breakdown of the fetus’ red blood cells (haemolysis).
  • Breast milk jaundice-This form of jaundice occurs in breastfed newborns and usually appears at the end of the first week of life. Certain chemicals in breast milk are thought to be responsible. It is usually a harmless condition that resolves spontaneously. Mothers
typically do not have to discontinue breastfeeding.
  • Breastfeeding jaundice-This form of jaundice occurs when the breastfed newborn does not receive adequate breast milk intake. This may occur because of delayed or insufficient milk production by the mother or because of poor feeding by the newborn. This inadequate intake results in dehydration and fewer bowel movements for the newborn, with subsequent decreased bilirubin excretion from the body.

Home remedies for jaundice:

  1. Drink more and more lime juice. This is one of the best home remedies for jaundice.240197/15
  2. Mash one ripe banana and eat it twice a day along with some honey. This is one of the best home remedies for jaundice.

  6. Beetroot juice when taken with squeezed lemon also helps to cure jaundice in a short period of time.
  7. Extract the juice of radish and drink at least one pound of juice on a daily basis. This is one of the best home remedies for jaundice.
  8. Drinking the juice of bitter gourd also helps to cure jaundice.
  9. Avoid eating fried foods, spicy foods, and oily foods.
  10. Take some juice out of two to three tomatoes and add some salt to taste. Drink this juice on a daily basis to get rid of jaundice.
  11. Eat more and more prune fruit. This is the best fruit for people suffering from jaundice.
  12. Drink a mixture of mint, fresh lime and ginger juice. This is one of the best home remedies for jaundice.

Homeopathic remedies for Sun stroke

SUNSTROKE is a life-threatening condition in which the body’s heat-regulating system fails, due to imagessmiley-sun-mdexposure to high temperatures. Sunstroke can occur when the body’s mechanisms to rid itself of excess heat are overwhelmed by a very hot or humid environment, or strenuous physical activity.

Heat stroke is a form of hyperthermia, an abnormally elevated body temperature with accompanying physical and neurological symptoms. Heat stroke is a true medical emergency that can be fatal if not properly and promptly treated. Heat stroke is also sometimes referred to as heatstroke.Sunstroke 2

Symptoms of sunstroke include elevated body temperature; hot, dry skin; hyperventilation; mental confusion; and eventual unconsciousness. Sunstroke can be prevented by drinking plenty of water and avoiding overtaxing the body in hot weather and while exercising.

Symptoms of Heat Stroke

The main symptom of heat stroke is a core body temperature above 105 degrees Fahrenheit. But fainting may be the first sign.

Other symptoms may include:heatstrokeexhaustion_04c864

Naturally Sunburn Treatments

Sunburn is the bane of summertime, thwarting tans and forcing people to cover up. It can happen at sunburnany time of the year though, because it is the exposer to the ultra-violet rays of the sun that cause it. When you’re getting bombarded with UV light, your exposed skin ups its production of melanin. Melanin is the dark pigment in the top layer of your skin (the epidermis) that gives it its color, and also determines how tan you can get. Upping the production of melanin is the bodies’ way of protecting the deeper layers of the skin, and the tan acts as a shield against UV light. However, the amount of melanin produced to protect you is determined by genetics (so people with fair skin produce less melanin and are more likely to burn) and all in all you end up with a natural shield equal to around SPF 4. The best thing to do is prevent sunburn, but even when you do try to protect yourself, you may end up burned anyways. To avoid peeling and get rid of the redness and stinging, here are Some healthy tips and home remedies for sunburn that are simple, fast, and effective.
——————————————————————————————————————————–

  • Potato paste:

If you’ve found yourself with searing hot red skin, root up a few potatoes. Potatoes have been known as a pain reliever throughout the years, working particularly well on minor skin irritations and soothing scratches, bites, and burns, as well as possibly reducing inflammation. Some people feel that the juice of the potato works the best, while others feel just slices are sufficient. Try both, and see which one is the best remedy for your sunburn.

  • Cool milk compress :milk-300x300

A cool milk compress is one of the quickest, simplest and low-cost ways to treat sunburn. It doesn’t get much easier than just heading to the refrigerator for relief-and easy is good when treating anything. The initial coolness of the milk will ease the heat, while it also creates a layer of protein to protect your skin, help it heal, and further soothe discomfort.

  • Baking soda for fighting burns:

Cornstarch, with its cool, silky texture, is a good way to naturally soothe your sunburn. Like milk, it is one of those things that you probably have lying around your house regardless of whether or not you planned on sizzling out in the sun. If you don’t have cornstarch, try some baking soda for quick relief. Both can diminish the pain and lessen the blazing red appearance of the burn.

  • Drink up: Sunburn is a burn:Ovo-je-3-napitka-uz-koje-ćete-smršati-5-puta-brže

It sounds like stating the obvious, but we often don’t think about the fact that we really, truly, seared our skin. As with any other thing that burns your skin is dried out, and your body is probably dehydrated too. Keep a tall glass or bottle of ice cold water on hand at all times to make sure you’re keeping yourself full of H20, which is necessary to heal your damaged skin heal your damaged skin.

  • Cool off with mint & green tea:Making-decious-Mint-tea

Mint naturally cools and soothes whatever it touches, and sunburns are no exception. The tannic acid and theobromine found in green tea also helps relieve pain and heal damaged skin when applied topically.

  • Indulge in some aloe:image001

Aloe vera gel is many peoples go-to when they have sunburn. It’s cool, soothing, and seems to suck the sting and redness right out of your sunburn. Because aloe is useful for a number of other ailments (such as acne or heartburn) it’s handy to have a plant growing in your house. They’re easy to maintain, free from any additives, and you won’t have to keep running out to buy more from the store all the time once it’s big enough. If you would really rather prefer not having the plant, getting some good quality aloe vera gel from the store is the next best thing-it’s also more practical for treating larger areas.

  • Season with vinegar:

Vinegar has been part of family lore for literally hundreds of years. While there is no official research done on how it helps sunburns in particular, there are a vast amount of people out there who swear up and down that vinegar helps heal sunburn, or mildly burned tissue in general. Pure unfiltered apple cider vinegar seems to work the best, and often times proponents of this method say is most effective after a cool or tepid shower.

  • Wash it with witch hazel

Take a bath with the Quaker guy

  • IY burn cream:

Whipping up a cream to soothe your sunburn at home can be easy, provided you have the right ingredients. Not surprisingly, this cream contains water, witch hazel, aloe vera gel, mint leaves, and baking soda, all of which relieve sunburn for various reasons. You can experiment by adding or subtracting other helpful ingredients to find out what works best for you

  • Don’t get burned:

This had to be listed at some point-the best way to treat a burn is to not get burned in the first place. Forget about getting a ridiculous tan a.s.a.p. and apply some sunscreen. You’ll darken your skin gradually, and in a much healthier way.

  • Use plain yogurt:bowl-of-plain-yogurt

Live cultured plain yogurt contains an abundance of probiotics and enzymes that help heal our skin. When you find yourself red and sunburned, it can help you recover faster. Make sure it’s truly plain yogurt, not vanilla, and that it has probiotics.

  • Avoid suds:

Do not soak your burn in soapy water, or take a bubble bath. Soap can dry out and irritate your already irritated skin. If you want to soak or submerge it, do so in a cool or tepid bath. When you’re done, pat yourself gently dry with a clean soft towel (be sure not to rub.) If your skin feels tight or dry afterwards, apply aloe vera gel or a similar moisturizer.

  • Cool it, cucumber:cucumber

Instant relief-that’s what a cucumber is to scorched skin. Not only is a cool cucumber soothing to the burn simply because its cool, but its antioxidant and analgesic properties promote healing and further relief from discomfort. You can apply it in a couple of ways, but however you do it, the swelling, redness, and pain should diminish soon Dr.R.K.Choudhary BHMS
